Baby Crew (13 days old)........

When Rachel of *golden* (who is obviously out on maternity leave right now) emailed me back in January to book this session, I was seriously flattered because NO ONE knew she was pregnant yet, but she was emailing ME to book a shoot. Believe it or not, this isn't the first time i've been the "first to know" about a client being pregnant....in fact...i've actually had people book me BEFORE they knew they were pregnant! Haha...and yes, i'm completely serious (in fact, it's the newborn post that will be following this one in a few days ;) hehe). So anyway, since Rachel is a tiny thing, I assumed that Crew would be born early. I mean, he's her second baby, we knew he would be pretty big, she works like crazy running her business, etc. It was only natural to *ass*ume (hehe) that he would arrive early.....so I anticipated that I would be doing this shoot earlier this month. Nope, Crew arrived 1 day LATE......and OF COURSE, in true Julie Cruz fashion, I got completely sick with a horrendous sore throat and cough on Thursday. I felt like my throat was coated in sand and broken glass. It was terrible. Rachel and the kids were already down from LA (a few days before the shoot) and Crew was already going to be 2 weeks old the following day, so we decided to just knock it out. I totally kept my distance from him (ok, well everyone) and had them help me with getting him situated and stuff. The hardest part about the shoot was not being able to position/help soothe him, talk, make jokes, etc with Kylie (Crew's big sis). My voice was (ok still is) a cross between Marge Simpson and Kermit the Frog, so yeah...a bit creepy for little ones ;) Anyway, Rachel posted this on Facebook a few hours after the shoot:
