Jagger (almost 9 months)

August 18, 2009 | Posted by: Julie Cruz | Category: Previews

Time is flying! It HAS to be because it feels like just last week I was taking Jagger's newborn photos. Here he is just a few days from turning 9 months old and is a smiley, chunky, adorable little flirt with a fierce fake cough that is a total attention getter ;)   We started off the shoot at their home and then headed a few blocks to the beach.  Again, I have to mention that I LOVE this age (between about 7-12 months). It's definitely one of my favorite ages to photograph since they are usually sitting up, chubby, adorable and smiley :)  Don't believe me? Here Jagger....show em'!........

Oh and I had to bring the basket I photographed him in when he was a newborn to do a little then and now :) ........

Peanut!

August 18, 2009 | Posted by: Julie Cruz | Category: Previews

My brother in law came over for dinner tonight and brought along his new puppy "Peanut".  We played outside for about 5-10 minutes while dinner was finishing cooking and snapped some pics.  PJ  Elmira would not leave him alone (as usual). Can you see the look of pure fear in his eyes in the first pic above?? ;)  How cute is my "nephew"????

Niiiiice sexy pose, Peanut ;)

Back to school..........

August 17, 2009 | Posted by: Julie Cruz | Category: My Life

Some kids have already started school again, some kids start next week or in a few weeks.....but my niece and nephew start school again TODAY (man, that went WAY too quick), so I wanted to post today :)

Earlier in the year I found the most amazing vintage school desk. Besides a few tons of scotch tape and pencil drawings on it, it was in fantastic condition. I gave it a little TLC (thanks to a razor blade, some Windex and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser)....and it was perfect! I bought it mainly for shoots, but it's actually been the perfect desk for PJ as well. She loves to sit and draw or write at it while i'm cooking dinner or whatever. I love that it has the old lift up top so that we can store all of her paper, crayons, pencil box full of markers, scissors, etc in it.

So for months i've had some ideas running through my head for the desk.....this idea (school bus) and another (which I will still eventually do one day...so I won't spill the beans about that one)....but free time is sparse for me lately. Since school was almost back in session, I knew it would be the perfect time to post something with it, so I MADE myself do a little shoot.

Now if you read the post below, you know that it was complete chaos that day. We literally threw the desk out there and shot away. We even talked about moving the position of the desk (to be sideways instead) part way through...but TOTALLY forgot since we were running late and in a hurry. DOH!...I could kick myself for that because it would have looked SO much better with the desk sideways. Oh well....at the time I was too worried about hurrying up, making sure PJ didn't fall off the desk (since it has a sloped lift up top, had it been sideways, she probably would have ended up sliding/falling off anyway), getting PJ to laugh and smile, etc. Oh and did I mention that this was in FULL direct blazing sun?  Yeah....I was also worried about how sunburned I would get in the 10 minutes we were out there LOL.

PJ starts Pre-K in a few weeks....and boy oh boy does she think she's big stuff. I can't even imagine how "grown up" she'll think she is NEXT year when she starts Kindergarten.  I hope all of the kiddos out there have a fantastic school year!!!

Field of dreams.......

August 15, 2009 | Posted by: Julie Cruz | Category: My Life

.....or field of weeds? Either way it was fun and we captured some awesome memories for PJ and my niece Maylie (who is 9).  PJ is 4 and totally wants to be Maylie. She wants her sweatshirt around her waist "like MayMay", she wants to watch all the "big girl" movies "like MayMay", she wants to wear the same swimsuits "like MayMay", etc, etc. But honestly there isn't another little girl in the world I would want her to be just like....than Maylie. Maylie is sweet, helpful (I can't even count the amount of times she has helped me clean PJ's room, give her a bath, etc...she's a little "mini mom"!), funny, well mannered, gorgeous, you name it!

I had been planning a little mini shoot (which you'll see on Monday) for a while now and mentioned it to the fabulous Cindy of http://www.orangeturtlephotography.com/ when we were having lunch one day. To my surprise and shock, Cindy asked if she could come along! Uhhhhh.....have some more amazing images taken by her!? ABSOLUTELY!!  Cindy posted some of the AMAZING images she took (from the second location) on her blog, so be sure to check them out and leave her some blog love!

Also, *PLEASE* take a second and vote for her!!  - http://kgtv.cityvoter.com/orange-turtle-photography/biz/164657

We were on a serious time crunch that day since we were meeting the Earles' ( http://www.bobbyearle.com/ ) for dinner and heading to a photography meeting, so we had to bump up the time (which unfortunately was full/bright sun). We literally went to 2 locations (which were NOT by each other), dragged out a few props at one location, changed the girls 2-3 times each,  shot away, etc....all in about 1 hour. Actual shooting time at each location was probably about 10-15 minutes.....so yeah, this gave MINI session a whole new meaning LOL. We just fired away and hoped for the best and literally ran off....and were unfortunately were still a little late to meet the Earles' (sorry guys!).

Maylie is always easy to photograph. Ok...and proud aunt moment. Next week she is getting flown (all expense paid - flight, hotel, food, etc - AND getting paid of course) out to OREGON to shoot for "77 Kids" (American Eagle Outfitters!) - http://www.ae.com/77kids/index.jsp  !!

Don't all big cousins teach their little cousin to do the "sprinkler"? LOL....

I think PJ was running off from me (as usual) here, but she LOOKS peaceful and I love it.....

P.S - I've gotten more emails from blog readers wanting to know how to leave comments, etc. No comments here for now....but you can always add Lot116 Photography on FACEBOOK to leave comments, know whenever I post new blog entries, contests, etc!  Hope to see you over there! :)
