It's always so much fun to see Nathan (5) and Mattias (3).  The past 2 times however, Mattias was either teething or sick and not in a great mood (although I still managed to catch some smiles of course!). This time he was all smiles and happy as ever.  3rd time's a charm I guess! ;) Nathan is always hilarious and full of fun. He's got such a great personality. Heck, BOTH of these boys do! This shoot was definitely fun. Knock knock jokes, Spongebob voices.....and a castle!  Let's start with the castle, shall we?............

"You wanna piece of us!!???".........

Newborn shoots, oh newborn shoots......how I love thee.  Brix is not only beautiful, but is also one of the most laid back newborns I have met. She didn't cry once (not even a peep!) the entire shoot (even with all of the "torture" we put her through ;) hehe)! It's rare that I leave a newborn shoot and don't know what their cry sounds like....but this time I did.  She was awake pretty much the entire session, but finally gave up towards the last 5-10 minutes.  Another thing I loved about this shoot was using one of their wine barrels and their hammock in the backyard. I love using items that are already in my clients' homes. It gives a more unique twist on things. I still brought along some of my props that mom mentioned that she loved, but my favorites were the ones they already had :)  Oh and a HUGE thank you to Brix's daddy for being one of the most helpful dad's around. At one point he even offered to run out and buy something that they didn't have, just to use as a prop (but we told him it was ok) :)  

Oh and for those wondering about Brix's name, her mom gave me the scoop before our shoot:

"Brix is the technical term in winemaking, for the measurement of sugar content in grapes that are still on the vine." 

So yes, they are wine makers :) Now you know why they had wine barrels on hand in their yard. I think the name Brix is awesome, unique and beautiful.....just like her.............

If there's one thing that makes me jealous about most weddings photographers, it's the fact that a lot of them get to travel all around the world to shoot weddings. 

Sorry, I can't say that i'm jealous of shooting for 9+ hours straight and editing hundreds of thousands of images ;) .....but I AM jealous of the travel!  

I don't shoot weddings (just personal preference), but I would LOVE to travel and shoot families, babies,  kids, newborns, couples, etc! Now of course in order for me to travel somewhere to shoot, my flight and accommodations (hotel/transportation) would need to be added to the cost of the shoot. I know that extra cost doesn't sound so great for just one family...BUT if you can round up a friend or two to do shoots as well, and split the travel costs, then I would LOVE to fly out and shoot! :)   

One of my goals for 2010 is to travel somewhere (out of San Diego and Los Angeles) to shoot, so let's see if I can meet that goal :)  

I've had some interest from a few people in Chicago, New York, Arizona, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Texas, etc, so if you are serious, i'm serious :) Like the title of this post says....."Have camera....WILL travel"!

I'm currently booking for APRIL 2010 and later, so let's start planning!!  Feel free to spread the word to your friends, relatives, etc  :)
