A special thank you...........

This story starts back in 2005....right after PJ was born. PJ's first teeth popped up pretty early....at about 4.5 months. Well with teeth comes DROOL.....and here was PJ soaking through several bibs and onesies/shirts each hour. I decided that there MUST be some bibs that actually DO what they are supposed to do.....protect clothing! Well sure, there are those vinyl or plastic bibs, but really, how uncomfortable is that? I decided to browse Etsy one day and came across the cutest handmade bibs made by Jenny of Colby Lane Designs. It was the adorable custom fabrics that first caught my eye, but after ordering a few, I was in LOVE. Not only were they SUPER cute, but they were reversible with plush chenille on the back side, so they were nice and soft, AND soaked up drool like no other! Not ONCE did PJ soak through a bib after that...whether it was drool, milk, water, food, etc.  I immediately bought a good supply and used them forever (basically up until PJ no longer needed bibs)....and guess what?...even after years of use and many, many washes, they were STILL in great enough condition to give away, sell, donate, etc.

So what does this have to do with this post? Well Jenny (the owner) and I remained in contact throughout the years since I would often order bibs as baby shower gifts, etc. She found me on Facebook and one day she posted a photo of her adorable little girl and her best friend wearing dresses that she had made for them.  I commented on how frickin' cute they were.....and next thing I know, there was a message in my inbox saying "Have PJ pick out the fabrics she wants for a dress and I will send one to you! I still owe you big time for being one of my first customers!!".

How amazingly sweet is she!?

Ok, ok.....i'll cut to the chase. So we've had the dress for a while now and of course I wanted to take some pics of PJ in the dress, but my schedule has been a little crazy (on top of the fact that it's been ridiculously hot, I was sick, PJ started a new school, etc). Well one day last week, PJ and I headed out to grab some breakfast and on the way home I noticed that it was pretty cool out and overcast. I knew it would be a great time to shoot at a location that I haven't shot at in quite some time.  We rushed home, threw on the dress, hopped in the car, ran to the location....and thank goodness we rushed it all because the searing sun came out about 15 minutes into shooting.    Can you guess PJ's fabric choice? ;)

I know I posted this second one above in B&W, but I love the color version too :)

Sorry, one last pic :)

P.S - I can't take all of the credit. All of the "poses" were PJ's ideas. She is always telling me how I should pose people at shoots, so she's much happier getting to choose how SHE wants to take pictures. I was more worried about getting enough shots before the sun came out ;)

Jenny - thank you again SO much for taking the time to make PJ a dress (let alone go out of your way to order the fabric she wanted!!). We truly appreciate (and love!) it! :)

Here are just a few of the many adorable bibs that Jenny makes......

Holy cuteness, right? If you have a drooling baby, messy eater, baby shower to go to, birthday/holiday presents to buy....head on over to Colby Lane Designs!

Oh and she had NO idea that I was going to post this (surprise Jenny! ;) hehe)....but I am always one to support mom created/run businesses, especially amazing quality ones like Jenny's :)

Sugar and spice and everything nice...........

.....that's what little Avery is made of!  I was supposed to photograph Avery last weekend, but since I was sick, we had to postpone to this past weekend to make sure I didn't pass my germs on to her :) Even though she was a little over 2 weeks old, she still did amazing. Barely a peep out of her, but she was quite a squirmy wormy :)  Big brother Sam was hilarious, sweet and super smart (just like he was at their shoot a few months ago when Avery was still in mommy's belly)......and cracked me up left to right.

Germs are not for sharing.....

September 01, 2009 | Posted by: Julie Cruz | Category: My Life

My birthday was on Friday and instead of waking up to a glorious day, I woke up to these little guys........

Yeah, apparently the germ fairy decided to drop off my present the night before. Just in time to make me feel like utter crap for my birthday! WOO HOO!  =P  Nothing like waking up to a sore and itchy throat, followed my sinus headaches and a runny nose. Mother of suck!!

Plans had already been made (thanks to my awesome husband and fabulous best friends), so there was no way I was going ruin all of their planning and do nothing for my birthday (plus I wanted my "Birthday Fun Card" to spend at Disneyland), so we had a wonderful delicious dinner at Roy's in Newport Beach, followed by a quick trip to Disneyland to collect my b-day fun card (basically a free gift card to spend).   I won't lie and say Disneyland was fabulous. It was a Friday night (still the tail end of summer) and it was HOT (like 90 degrees!!!!...even at 8:30pm when we arrived!!) and crowded. We didn't stay long or do much, but here are a few photos I snapped (with the point and shoot) in between blowing my nose and taking cold medicine.........

Thanks to my wonderful cold, I had to reschedule my newborn shoot that was scheduled on Sunday :(   Normally (for regular shoots) I would just suck it up and shoot from a distance with the giant lens, but there was no way I was going to risk getting a newborn sick (especially since newborn shoots are way more up close and personal and hands on)....so i'll be meeting miss Avery this weekend instead :)

Sorry there aren't any sneak peeks this week, but there will be PLENTY starting next week....and all the way until DECEMBER. Yep, my CRAZY season is starting up!  Hmmm....crazy might not even be right...more like INSANE ;) I'll be killing myself for sure.....but it will all be worth it! :)

NEXT YEAR (yes, i'm already talking 2010 here folks) I have other plans in the works for holiday card season and hopefully I will be able to book more clients and shoot on less days.....which works in your favor AND mine ;) I can squeeze in more clients AND shoot less days......making my life a little less chaotic next year ;)
