A mama and her boys.....

July 21, 2010 | Posted by: Julie Cruz | Category: Previews

There was plenty of goofing around at this shoot......thanks to Connor and Aidan ;) Every time I snapped a pic, one of them would be sticking his tongue out, the other would have his eyes crossed, one would poke a stick in his brother's ear, one would do some silly "pose", etc, etc. Sometimes photographing older kids is a lot harder than photographing little ones ;) ......so in times like that....you resort to FUN! Luckily this family was MORE than fun. They were CRAZY!! Long story short....what started out as a little "splashing around" ended in ALL of them SOAKED....with all of their clothes on!  The first one to dive head first into the water was Connor. After that, Connor tackled his mom....and the rest was history! :) That was TOTALLY unexpected.....and awesome! :)  Oh and no, they had not planned on that at all....because they did NOT have ANY extra clothes! So yeah...that just gives you an idea of how much fun this beautiful mama and her boys are :)

The photo on the left was one of the very last shots....and proof that yes....they were soaked HEAD to TOE!......

.......and before we said our goodbyes, I saw one of the only few dry items left. Connor's shoes......

This gorgeous little girl and her parents drove down from Vegas this past weekend. We started out at the winery that they were married at a few years back.....and on the same exact day even (capturing your family? What an awesome way to spend your anniversary!)! This time, they had a new addition though.....their baby girl, Kennedy! It was over 100 degrees...but we all made it out alive ;) Check out this super cute family.....

Driving out from Vegas and shooting in 95-100 degree heat? Yes....they definitely deserve one little peek from yesterdays shoot ;)

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! It is HOT here in San Diego. Of course the temperatures will be dropping a bit starting on Tuesday....you know, AFTER i've done shoots yesterday, today and Monday (originally I had FOUR scheduled (Fri, Sat, Sun AND Mon)!...but thank goodness one of those rescheduled for a few weeks from now) in this CRAZY heat ;) Figures the one weekend I overbook myself is the hottest weekend on the planet! Haha. Sweaty pig....signing off ;)

Colorado.......

July 15, 2010 | Posted by: Julie Cruz | Category: Previews

One of my "goals" for this year was to fly somewhere for a shoot. I was able to cross that off my list this past weekend. The Z family flew me out to Colorado for a few days to do their shoot. From the greenery, the deer, the prairie dogs, seeing people splash around and ride down Boulder Creek on inner tubes, watching rock climbers climbing up the rocks, the huge mountains, etc.....Colorado was definitely a pretty place. Stacy is also a photographer and I went along with her to a shoot she had on Saturday morning. When we arrived at the clients' home....we were both in awe. It was THE photographer's dream. From a barn with horses, old vintage cars left behind by the previous owners, riding around on 4 wheelers to get from one spot to the other, an amazing field of tall grass and flowers...and of course the most amazing views....it was unreal! I knew that we HAD to do her own family shoot there the next day. Seriously, it was everything we were looking for....and MORE! I called up the amazing family (which I had the pleasure of hanging out with and shooting along with Stacy) and asked if it would be possible for us to do Stacy's shoot there the following day. Because they are THE sweetest and most amazing family around, they said "Of course!"....so back we went the following morning. Things ran late and we ended up started about an hour later than planned (a.k.a full blown sun), but it was still gorgeous.

Can you believe that this is just PART of someone's backyard!??

These last 2 were not at the location above. We stopped here afterwards.......

*Z family* - Thanks again for having me!

*H family* - Thanks again for letting us shoot at your AMAZING home! :)

Good things come to those who wait.......

Emma just turned 2 years old....and for the first part of the shoot, she let us know ;) The most heard word of the shoot?..... "No!" ;) With toddlers (ok, kids in general), it can be hit or miss. With Emma, it started out a little worrisome for her parents. I could see that they were worried about how the shoot was going....but I reassured them that with toddlers, this is how it goes. Everything is on THEIR terms, so you just have to sit back and let nature take it's course. Although it started out a little rocky, shortly after, it was all smiles and giggles....and honestly, sometimes that's all you need is just a few minutes. After filling her brief "2 year old" quota, it was all uphill from there. Laughs, playing, smiles, cuteness, songs, dogs, and most importantly...lollipops, were all we needed :) Check out adorable miss Emma, her daddy AND her gorgeous (expecting) mama......
